Achievements
Increased capacity to provide high quality, evidence-based care through a comprehensive approach to clinical training for health care providers, including conducting assessments at six health facilities on their readiness to provide COVID-19 care; supporting installation and training to use 50 ventilators; training 600 clinicians in management of critical and severe COVID-19 disease; and enrolling 130 providers in the online course Fundamentals of Critical Care developed by the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Conducted interdisciplinary team training for more than 300 primary health care clinicians on management of mild and moderate COVID-19 in the context of ambulatory health care settings. The training incorporated principles of infection prevention and control, triage, process mapping, referral coordination with clinical assessment, and management to promote a high-quality, yet holistic, approach to caring for patients with respiratory symptoms.
Conducted a rapid assessment of the medical oxygen ecosystem in 18 national hospitals, which found that while oxygen production and distribution were sufficient to meet the needs of the population, only one person among all oxygen cylinder maintenance personnel had received training on medical oxygen equipment infrastructure and safety.
Developed and delivered a comprehensive medical oxygen training for 68 nonclinical health facility staff, emphasizing the importance of occupational safety and oxygen-related safety protocols as a core principle of oxygen ecosystem management and maintenance.
