Achievements
Assessed 16 health facilities on their readiness to provide care during the pandemic and found the need to strengthen the capacity for COVID-19 case management and to make protocols for critical care and ventilator management available.
Increased capacity to provide critical care in five facilities: supported the installation and use of 20 ventilators (donated by the U.S. government); procured and distributed 10 test lung kits to calibrate the ventilators; and installed Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning (RACHEL) devices in facilities for remote learning and trained 76 health care workers on their use.
Improved clinical skills of frontline health workers by training 620 critical care physicians and intensive care unit staff on critical care patient management, including management of ventilated patients.
