Achievements
Generated demand for COVID-19 vaccination by engaging more than 550 community leaders to promote uptake, conducting social media campaigns, and airing television spots.
Trained 131 operators of oxygen-generating pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants—relatively new technology in Sri Lanka—across 40 hospitals. The training covered safety, maintenance, and repair of equipment and infrastructure so that operators can sustain a functional oxygen ecosystem for years to come.
Rolled out an initiative to address the mental health needs of frontline health care workers, reaching 2,124 frontline health professionals, 308 mental health personnel, 60 ambulance staff members, and all mental health hotline employees and providing counseling and training to manage burnout, foster resilience, and address COVID-19-associated psychosocial challenges.
Established 10 triage, training, and consulting units at one district and nine base hospitals to optimize COVID-19 management and alleviate the strain on tertiary hospitals. EpiC furnished the units with medical equipment and donated 230 units of telemedicine equipment, enabling health institutions to remotely manage emergencies and optimize patient care through specialist consultation.
Supported the installation of 200 mechanical ventilators at 115 hospitals and trained 18 emergency care physicians as lead trainers, who in turn built the capacity of 1,385 health care providers in COVID-19 clinical case management.
