Achievements
Partnered with civil society organizations in Maharashtra and Telangana to address vaccine hesitancy and promote the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among key populations (KPs) and people living with HIV (PLHIV). Trained more than 450 peer volunteers, peer counselors, and frontline health care workers to conduct outreach and demand generation activities.
Reached more than 47,500 KP individuals and PLHIV with COVID-19 vaccine promotion messages, of whom more than 20,000 people received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dispelled myths and promoted COVID-19 vaccination by adapting existing or developing new social and behavior change materials on COVID-19 vaccination for KPs and PLHIV.
Set up 13 COVID-19 help desks at government antiretroviral therapy (ART) centers to enroll KP individuals and PLHIV to register for vaccination appointments on the government’s CoWIN App.
Supported access to HIV services and commodities for KPs and PLHIV during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, including during lockdown periods. Provided technical assistance through a nationwide cluster-based Strategic Expertise Support Unit model to strengthen service delivery and ensure uninterrupted supply and access to essential HIV prevention and treatment services during the pandemic and post-pandemic recovery periods.
