Achievements
Built capacity for critical care by training 507 health care workers on infection prevention and control, clinical management of COVID-19, resuscitation, pulmonology, safe use of oxygen equipment, and post-COVID clinical support and rehabilitation. The project also mentored 278 health care workers and oxygen specialists.
Developed and updated protocols for the clinical management of COVID-19 and hypoxic patients in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population and a technical working group consisting of leading Tajik health experts. During the height of COVID-19 pandemic, guidelines were essential to control the spread of the virus, protect patients and health care workers, and avoid confusion and inconsistent practices.
Improved medical oxygen access at Bokhtar, Panjakent, and Konibodom hospitals by installing 47 oxygen supply points to support 94 patients across various units.
Established the Resource Center for Safe Oxygen Use at the Tajik Technical University to train specialists and address the country’s growing need for qualified personnel to promote safe operation of oxygen equipment. Trained 35 non-clinical staff from 28 medical facilities; Tajik Technical University conducts lectures and practical sessions on safe oxygen use for students of environmental engineering, protection, and monitoring.
