Shohin – a business student from Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan – loves and cherishes his mother and likes to spend time hanging out with friends and having fun on the weekends. He has many friends, but his best friend is Dushanbinka – the river that runs through the city. He knows he can share all of his secrets and unpleasant memories with the Dushanbinka, and the river will take them away forever.
He recently shared with us one of those memories, from a time when he was living in Russia and raising investment funds to fulfill his dream of opening his own chaykhana, or teahouse. To register his documents, he needed to get a medical exam. This is how Shohin was diagnosed with HIV.
