Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an approach to HIV prevention whereby HIV-negative people who are at risk of acquiring HIV take a pill a day to reduce the risk of HIV infection prior to being exposed to the virus. It is an additional prevention tool that people should consider when choosing to protect themselves from HIV.
